How common is blushing?
A person suffering of social phobia will not voluntary set himself in a social situation with focus on him and others attention. By that reason they avoid contacting a doctor to get help with their problem. That’s not strange because their phobia is just those social situations.
Stuart Montgomery (professor in psychiatry, Imperial College of Solence, Technology and Medicine in London.) have calculated that almost one person in ten suffers from social phobia, older estimations are much lower. But they are also only using the statistics of the number of person who gets treatment by a doctor. That is ridiculous when the phobia is to confront other persons and be in focus. Almost as stupid as if you should have to run three laps around your house just to get your broken leg “approved”.
How common facial blushing is are also very hard to estimate, because many of them also suffers from social phobia. It’s hard to say what comes first if it is social phobia or facial blushing, it may be individual. But you can have social phobia without being a blusher.
